Flash Flood Warnings: Powered by AI

When Warning Time Matters

Flash flooding can occur minutes after rainfall, and by the time the flood arrives, it’s often too late to take action.

Piccard’s AI system uses rainfall forecasts and IoT sensors to detect and warn about floods before rainfall occurs - giving crucial time to take action. Most urban catchments will receive 1-4 hours of warning time.

The AI Advantage

AI based forecasting has a number of key advantages over traditional flood modelling:

Fast: Forecasts can be produced in milliseconds, adding valuable warning time.

Self Calibrating: Forecasts are 100% based on actual observed data - not hypothetical assumptions about runoff and routing.

Self Improving: The forecasts improve over time, as more data is collected. This means a warning system is more accurate in 5 years than it is today.
